An extraordinary destination, at the foot of the Sassolungo group, where you can discover the intense life of the mountain pastures and enjoy the freshest alpine products.
At an altitude of 2200 metres, throughout the summer, this mountain hut welcomes cows, goats and sheep in the pastures and offers hikers who reach it from Passo Sella or Col Rodella (or Alpe di Siusi in the reverse direction) an excellent refreshment point. The structure, renovated in 2016, has a cozy stube and several outdoor tables with extraordinary views of Sassolungo, Marmolada and the Catinaccio group. In front of the Dolomite massifs, Italian and Ladin-Tyrolean cuisine is particularly appreciated, based on home-made products such as cheeses, specks and other cured meats, jams and fruit juices (also available for purchase). To try, therefore, the chopping boards with sausages and genuine cakes, the polenta with melted cheese, with goulash or different meats also grilled and hamburgers, but also desserts, artisanal ice cream and yogurt with berries. There is no shortage of proposals for vegetarians, vegans and celiacs at the hut.
The structure accepts pets, even large ones, inside and outside.
How to get there
With a short digression, compared to the Friedrich August trail (which remains higher) you can reach, on foot, the Malga Sasso Piatto (1.30 hours walk).
