Rifugio Passo Santner

Rifugio Passo Santner

Eat and Drink

The refuge is located in the heart of the Sciliar-Catinaccio Natural Park, at 2734 m, under the summit of the second highest peak of the mountain group of the same name, in the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The new Rifugio Passo Santner, recently restored, stands on the previous building wanted and built in 1956 by the great mountaineer and alpine guide Giulio Gabrielli who, for three years, until his untimely death during a difficult expedition on the Marmolada, was also its first manager. Its impressive location allows a view that ranges from the Latemar to the top of the Black Horn and the White Horn and from the Ortles to the Austrian and Swiss Alps.
According to the popular legend that tells the story of King Laurino lost in love with his beautiful Similde, the refuge arose precisely in the place where the king had set up the Rose Garden for his beloved. The Garden that we can still see only at sunset on the Enrosadira.
Reaching the refuge is an extraordinary adventure that involves a maximum travel time of about 3 hours after climbing with the Catinaccio cable car or the Vajolet chairlift. Comfortable wooden rooms and warm dishes that taste like traditional dishes from the world's most enchanted mountains await you.
