Sunburn: can our four-legged friends get it too?
Yes, sunburn is a concern for pets too. On very sunny or particularly hot days, before taking your pet for a walk, apply a high-protection sunscreen recommended by your vet to the pale, most exposed areas of their body, such as the tips of their ears.
Trimming your pet's fur in the summer can be counterproductive: fur also provides protection from UV rays, especially for dogs with white fur and pale skin. In such cases, sun-induced dermatitis and sunburn may occur.
