Everything you need to set off with peace of mind
Before you set off, pack a small travel kit for your pet - it'll save you a lot of stress and help you enjoy your holiday in Val di Fassa.
Useful items to pack:
- identification tag with your pet's name and your phone number + a recent photo of your pet
- health documents (vaccination record and, if necessary, pet passport and other certificates): ask your vet what you need based on your destination and travel plans
- lead, harness (a spare is also recommended) and muzzle
- food and water bowls, water bottle and a supply of your pet's usual food
- dog waste bags (and a scoop, if needed): a simple gesture to show respect for the mountains
- for cats: litter tray and essential items
- your pet's regular medication and a mini first aid kit, to be put together following your vet's advice
- for comfort and in case of bad weather: a blanket/folding bed, towels, wet wipes, a brush, and, if needed, a waterproof jacket or raincoat
- a couple of familiar toys, to help your pet feel "at home" even in a new place
If you've forgotten something: don't panic. In the area, you'll find supermarkets and pet shops selling essential items and a range of popular brands of pet food. For consultations or emergencies, you can contact the veterinary clinics in Pozza and Moena. In addition, our selected pet-friendly properties offer dedicated services and useful information for those travelling with their four-legged friends.
If your pet goes missing
Act calmly but swiftly: report the disappearance to the local police (Phone +39 0462 574450) and contact the veterinary clinics in the valley. Create a poster (which you can also share on social media) with a recent photo and a description (size, colour, distinguishing features, microchip/collar, temperament), and include a telephone number.
If you're travelling by car
When travelling by car, always transport your pet safely and in accordance with the Highway Code: they must never obstruct your view while driving. If you're travelling with more than one pet, use a carrier/cage or a partition (net or similar) in the boot.
