A temporary exhibition dedicated to the sculptor Andrea Soraperra from Val di Fassa, whose work has won over audiences and critics far beyond the borders of Trentino
Andrea Soraperra, born in Penìa di Canazei in 1945, attended the State Art School in Pozza, where he had the good fortune to be a pupil of the famous sculptor and mountain guide Toni Gross. After completing his studies, he continued his training in the workshop of his master, with whom he worked for about two years. Today, Soraperra is an important sculptor from the Fassa Valley, whose works have been exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums, reaching France, Japan and even Nouméa, in New Caledonia.
His art is constantly growing and evolving, guided by a deep sensitivity to the material and an expressive research that never ceases to renew itself.
In his small studio in Penìa, which can be visited by appointment, you can admire wooden bas-reliefs, crucifixes, nativity scenes, sculptures and modern statues, as well as his famous "faceres", the traditional masks of the Ladin Carnival, a living testimony to the identity and creativity of his land.
The exhibition is on display in the Council Chamber on the first floor of the Town Hall and is open every day from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free.
