As part of the "Brass bands on the summit" initiative, concert by the municipal band of Fondo
The mountains become a stage, the band the soundtrack. "Bande in vetta" is back, the festival that brings Trentino bands to alpine refuges for an experience of walking, music and nature. From 22 June to 28 September 2025, every Sunday morning, a mountain refuge will host an open-air concert: brass and woodwind instruments will blend with the sounds of the forest, the peaks and the silence. Walk, listen, breathe: this is the invitation that accompanies this year's event, promoted by the Federation of Bands in collaboration with the Trentino Mountain Huts and with the support of the Autonomous Province of Trento. Folk music, soundtracks and original repertoires will accompany hikers until early afternoon, for a slow-paced encounter between culture and landscape.
On Sunday 13 July from 10:30 a.m. to early afternoon at the Contrin Rifugio, concert by the municipal band of Fondo. The refuge can be reached on foot from Alba di Canazei (about a 2-hour walk). A shuttle service is available (for a fee and upon reservation by the previous day) from Alba to Baita Locia Contrin, from where you continue on foot for about 1 hour.
Founded in 1901 in Val di Non, in eastern Trentino, the municipal band of Fondo was created thanks to the passion of a small group led by pharmacist Adolfo Bertagnolli. The first conductor came from Cremona and the instruments from Milan. After its initial successes, such as third prize in San Vigilio in 1903, the band continued until 1940, before resuming after the war. In 1953, it was definitively revived with new musicians and, from the 1970s, under the direction of Franco Sozzi. Today, the band has 49 members, its own headquarters, new uniforms and an official banner. It has been directed and supported for over half a century by its historic president Bruno Graiff.
