Don't miss the performance - featuring jumps, dance moves and slaps - by one of South Tyrol’s most original folk groups
The Schuhplattler is a lively and spectacular traditional Bavarian and Tyrolean dance, once associated with courtship rituals. The name literally means "shoe-beater" and refers to the dancers' characteristic movements, as they clap their hands, stamp their feet and slap the soles of their shoes in rapid succession, alternating jumps, turns and almost acrobatic gestures to the tune of the accordion.
For over fifty years, the Schuhplattler of Termeno, a South Tyrolean village on the Wine Route, have been preserving and passing on this tradition with passion. Re-established in 1975, the group now comprises 35 plattlers, 3 musicians and a group of young school-age dancers, a sign of a tradition that continues to renew itself and engage the younger generations.
At 9.15 pm outside the "La Gran Ciasa" multi-purpose building in Soraga (tourist office). In case of bad weather, the concert will be held in the hall on the first floor. Free admission.
