The wind instruments of the European Union Youth Orchestra, young talents from across Europe, perform a chamber concert at the foot of the Vaiolet Towers: music becomes breath among the rocks, in harmony with the silence of the Dolomites
I Suoni delle Dolomiti are unique encounters between music, nature and silence. In a theatre without walls, where the landscape becomes the stage, artists and audience share the journey and the act of listening. Harmonies intertwine with the breath of the mountains, in an experience that exists only here and now.
30 years of I Suoni delle Dolomiti: EUYO Wind Quintet. Vajolet Rifugio (Vaiolet Valley), Tuesday, 30 September at 12 noon
Programme
Five wind instruments, one voice: the EUYO Wind Quintet is made up of the first chairs of the European Union Youth Orchestra, the symphony orchestra of young talents from each of the 27 Member States of the European Union. Every year, over 3,000 musicians aged between 16 and 26 apply for one of the 120 places available in one of the most sought-after orchestra auditions in the world. Founded in 1978 together with Claudio Abbado, who was its staunch promoter, the EUYO has performed in major European and world capitals under the baton of the greatest conductors. Many of its more than 4,000 former members are now soloists, teachers and first chairs in the most prestigious international ensembles. At I Suoni delle Dolomiti, the EUYO Wind Quintet will perform at the foot of the majestic Vaiolet Towers, in the Catinaccio mountain range. There, where the rock walls tell the story of time, the breath of the wind instruments will merge with the echo of the mountains in a concert suspended between earth and sky.
How to get to the Vajolet Rifugio: from Pera di Fassa (parking available), take the "Vajolet 1" and "Vajolet 2" chairlifts. Then follow the forest road (Sentiero delle Leggende) to Gardeccia, and continue along trail no. 546 (approx. 1 hour 45 minutes walk, elevation gain 450 m, difficulty level E).
Admission to the concert is free. We recommend arriving at least one hour before the concert begins and wearing clothing suitable for mountain hiking.
In case of bad weather, the concert will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the multipurpose hall "La Gran Ciasa" in Soraga. Free tickets will be distributed at the entrance from 3:30 p.m., subject to availability.
