Nestled on the rugged Costabella Ridge, the refuge welcomes hikers and mountain lovers in a well-kept, bright environment steeped in human warmth.
But here, in addition to the beauty of the panorama, at 2,530 metres above sea level, you can also breathe the memory: we are at the heart of what were once the first lines of the Great War, between trenches carved into the rock and silences that tell stories of men, resistance and borders.
Floriano, guardian of this place of the soul, carries on with his wife Elisabetta the legacy of a family passion. His father, Bepi "Zac" Pellegrin, was one of the best known Fassani mountaineers: today his son honours his memory by welcoming those who climb up here with the same dedication and mountain spirit.
The refuge is not just a stop, but a destination of taste. The menu is a journey through Ladin flavours, with authentic and fragrant dishes: among the most loved, the green spruce spätzle. For a quick snack or a snack with a view, there's no shortage of hot sandwiches, homemade sweets and a sunny terrace where every break turns into a moment to remember.
How to get there
The refuge is reached in summer on foot from Passo San Pellegrino or Val Monzoni, while in winter with mountaineering skis or snowshoes. The Costabella chairlift allows you to comfortably reach a height of 2,175 m, with an elevation gain of 269 m.
