It is the famous Four Passes Tour (Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella, Passo Gardena and Passo Campolongo), a natural loop around the Sella Massif connecting four Ladin valleys: Val di Fassa in Trentino, Val Gardena and Alta Badia in South Tyrol, and Arabba in Veneto.

With a Dolomiti Superski pass, you can complete the tour in about five to six hours if you are a confident, independent skier. The key is to set off early enough to leave time for lunch in one of the many mountain huts. And what huts! And what views!

You can access the Sellaronda from several points in Val di Fassa: from Canazei or Alba di Canazei via Col dei Rossi, from Campitello by taking the cable car up to Col Rodella, or from Pozza, with a slightly longer route through the Buffaure and Ciampac ski areas. Whatever your starting point, the Sella is part of the landscape from the very first turns and stays with you for much of the day.

Choose the colour that will guide you around the loop: orange clockwise, green anti-clockwise. It's best to set off by 9:00 am and keep an eye on the time; ideally, you should cross the final pass by 3:30 pm. In strong winds or heavy snowfall, cable cars and chairlifts may close without warning. After that, all you need to do is follow the signs and watch the Sella change face, turn after turn.
