The magic of the snow-covered Dolomites arrived in the heart of Munich: this happened on the evening of October 27 during a press conference organized by the Val di Fassa Tourist Board and hosted at the prestigious headquarters of the General Consulate of Italy. About seventy representatives of Bavarian (and other) media attended the event, which—after a welcome from Consul Sergio Maffettone—featured Eurosport speaker Guido Heuber leading a lively presentation that blended words, images, and guests to showcase the main innovations of the 2025–2026 season.
The opening section was dedicated to the new 3S lift connecting Campitello to Col Rodella, scheduled to open in December. This gondola, with 16 cabins holding 30 passengers each, will reach an hourly capacity of 2177 people (with a ride time of only six minutes), making it one of the most advanced lift systems in the Alps. Elisa Maccagni, president of the Val di Fassa–Carezza Cableway Consortium, described the technical features and expected impact on mountain and valley mobility, influencing skier access and flow, especially during peak tourism periods.
Elisabeth Vendruscolo of the Alpe Lusia San Pellegrino Cableway Consortium spoke about the upcoming World Cup races hosted by the valley: Ski Cross on January 30–31 and Women’s Alpine Skiing on March 7–8, featuring a downhill and a super-G on the La VolatA slope.
Nicolò Weiss, director of the Ladin Tourist Board, highlighted the most fascinating aspects of the region and its potential for holidays full of wonder and satisfaction—not only in winter but also in summer and autumn, when trekking, biking, and wellness take center stage.
The spotlight then turned to Linus Straßer and Emma Aicher, two of Germany’s most beloved ski champions—rarely seen together, especially on the eve of the World Cup season, which kicked off last weekend in Sölden. Their presence was made possible thanks to Val di Fassa, of which both athletes, together with Lara Colturi, are “pro ambassadors.” While Colturi (training in Sölden) sent a video greeting, Straßer and Aicher were the evening’s guests of honor, sharing their preparation for the new racing season. Straßer, Germany’s top slalom specialist, also spoke about his training experiences in Fassa, praising the slopes’ preparation, landscapes, cuisine, and Ladin hospitality.
High expectations are also placed on Aicher, regarded as one of Germany’s greatest skiing talents, who already won two World Cup races last season.
Not only these champions train in Fassa: thanks to Piste Azzurre—a project in partnership with FISI now celebrating its 20th anniversary—the area regularly hosts top Italian men’s and women’s national teams and many other elite athletes.
The evening concluded with an impressive tasting of Ladin cuisine, delighting guests with local products and gourmet dishes prepared by chef Matthias Trottner of Baita Checco (Ciampedie), with the support of chef Gaetano Bonanno from Rifugio Carlo Valentini (Sella Pass).
The event, organized with the support of the Munich-based TOC agency, proved a great success thanks to the combination of sports expertise, engaging destination storytelling, and Italian hospitality, leaving a positive impression on German media. Val di Fassa thus reaffirmed its strong connection with the German market and its position among the top winter sports destinations in the Dolomites.
