From Fassa to Fiemme and into the Biois Valley in Belluno, ski across Alpe Lusia, San Pellegrino and Falcade: an itinerary that not everyone realises can be completed in one day, following the slopes of what was once the "Tre Valli" ski area, now Alpe Lusia-San Pellegrino. Long, scenic runs lead you through the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Nature Park, between porphyritic ridges and terraces suspended above the Pale Mountains. And at the top of Col Margherita, at 2,513 metres, the air is as clear as at the Arctic Circle: the purest breath of the Dolomites.

One day, three valleys, one story
Start from Castelir-Bellamonte or Molino-Falcade, or from Ronchi or Passo San Pellegrino if you want to extend the tour. In one day, you can link the three valleys - Fassa, Fiemme and Biois - and discover how closely connected these ski areas are, framed by the porphyry chain of Lusia and Cima Bocche. If you start from Ronchi, 3.5 km from Moena, take the gondola to Le Cune, glide down to Castelir via the Lasté slope, then climb back up Alpe Lusia in the opposite direction and return to Ronchi, where the shuttle takes you to San Pellegrino Pass in just a few minutes. From here, the view opens onto majestic Col Margherita, the heart of the ski tour. Descending towards Falcade, a wide plateau of perfect slopes stretches beneath your skis.
This is more than a ski tour: it is a journey through an immense geological and natural treasure protected by the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Nature Park. For those who know how to listen, the mountain speaks: flamed porphyry rocks, forests of resonance spruce used to craft violins, and traces of the Great War still visible along the high-altitude trails. At 2,513 metres, Col Margherita is one of the most spectacular balconies overlooking the Dolomites. From the summit, the panorama embraces the Marmolada, Pelmo, Civetta, Pale di San Martino, Costabella, Cima Uomo, the Monzoni range and, in the distance, the Catinaccio. A scientific research station monitors air purity up here: a remote outpost where nature truly breathes.
Below Col Margherita lies shimmering Lake Cavia, a sheet of ice in winter and a cobalt-blue basin in summer. A caretaker lives here year-round, reaching the dam by a small two-seater cable car - an almost invisible presence that adds charm and silence to this suspended corner between earth and sky. One descent after another leads you to Alfio Ghezzi's InAlto Dolomites, where haute cuisine meets the simplicity of the valleys: essential, contemporary dishes born from a sincere dialogue of roots, responsibility and creativity.
Then comes La VolatA, the black run that drops from Col Margherita to Passo San Pellegrino. A technical, spectacular slope and former World Cup venue, it gives you an adrenaline boost before you cross to the opposite side of the valley. The tour also touches the peak of Cima Uomo, accessible via the new four-seater chairlift - a name that recalls one of the most beloved songs by "L Chum", the pseudonym of Moena's unforgettable musician Lucio Tullio Chiocchetti:
Ti porterò al Cima Uomo per vedere se tu sai sciare,
ma non dimenticare il peso a valle e la rotazione delle spalle.
Che poi scenderemo dal Cima Uomo, a parallelo, sopra la neve,
ma la gente stupita ci guardava allibita
come scendevi, come scendevi.
E alla partenza della seggiovia tu mi aspettavi per andare via…
I’ll take you to Cima Uomo to see if you can ski,
but remember: keep your weight downhill and turn your shoulders.
Then we’ll descend from Cima Uomo, parallel, over the snow,
and people stared at us in wonder
as you made your way down, as you made your way down.
And at the chairlift, you waited for me to set off…
From the first turns at Alpe Lusia to the final descent towards Falcade, the Tre Valli Ski Tour reveals itself slowly, slope after slope. A blend of views, stories and silence that shifts with the light of day, leaving you with a rare feeling: the mountain flowing freely - and you flowing with it.
